Homesafe SecureSys Service (S3)

How S3 Works.
Homesafe's S3 system does not require a phone line or an internet connection. S3 communicates alarm signals and "normal activity" information using a nationwide 2-way wireless network. S3 includes a wireless module which enables communication between your system and the wireless network. By adding this S3 module to certain GE Security control panels, your security system can begin to transmit information in a completely wireless fashion. Wireless transmission backed by a partnership you know and trust, Homesafe and GE.

Web Access to your system is a bonus!
Regardless of your security system's status (armed or disarmed), S3 is reporting all sensor and control panel activity so you can see it when you log into your account on our website. You can also sign up for notifications to your e-mail, PDA or cell phone to find out right away when:
  • Specific doors, windows or cabinets opened (IE, Liquor or gun cabinet)
  • Motion is detected in a room, hallway or living area
  • The system is armed or disarmed and by whom
  • The power goes out or a sensor battery is running low
  • Many other types of events are reported
Homesafe's website makes it very easy to manage who should be notified when your system reports an alarm or normal activity.

What if there is an actual alarm?
As soon as your security system detects an alarm condition, S3 is transmitting your information wirelessly to the 2-Way paging control center. This information is then forwarded to the central monitoring station where a live operator will be available to notify you about the alarm and notify the police or fire department if needed. Simultaneously, S3 logs this information on your web-access account located at www.homesafesecurity.com and can alert you and anyone in your online Address Book using completely automated text-message, e-mail and voice notifications.

Thinking of using VOIP?
If you are thinking of using your broadband internet connection to send alarm signals to a central station, beware! If your power goes out then your DSL or cable modem will lose power, which means no internet connection and therefore no alarm signal communication. S3 use a completely wireless transmission protocol and has built-in power supplies, so even if the phone, power AND Internet connections are down, your system will continue to monitor and protect you and your family (and property too!).

More Information on VOIP VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) allows you to make telephone calls via the broadband Internet instead of using a traditional landline telephone. While we realize VoIP may be a useful technology for you, we want to make sure you are aware of the affects it could have on your security/life safety system. If you decide to install VoIP, please make sure the company you are working with knows that you have an alarm system.

Please consider the following before installing VoIP:
  • If a phone number change is required when switching to VoIP, make sure to notify us in writing about this change. The monitoring station has no way to contact you should an alarm be activated if we do not have your new number.
  • It may be difficult for you to connect with a local 911 operator or for the 911 operator to identify the location of the Internet based 911 call, make sure you review this point with your VoIP provider.
  • In addition to alarm system battery backup equipment, VoIP may need an additional backup battery to maintain communications in the event of a power outage.
  • There will most likely be costs associated with modifications for your alarm system to communicate through VoIP as well, so it is recommended that you call us first, before making the switch.
And Please consider S3 as a reliable upgrade to your current system, for now and for the future…
