Homesafe's History Homesafe Security Systems Inc. (HSSI) was founded in 1993 by Stuart Forchheimer. Stuart, a 1987 graduate of the University of Maryland with a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, has extensive computer application and network design skills. He's worked with companies such as The Discovery Channel, McCormick Spice Company and Bausch & Lomb. After joining forces with Mark Shane in 1993, Homesafe began to take shape. When recently asked why he and Mark make such a good team, Stuart said, "Mark has the drive and ambition to tackle any challenge, big or small, day or night, it doesn't matter. Not only does he get it done, but he also cares how it's done. He takes pride in what he does. Plus each of us knows what the other one is thinking and that helps in solving almost any problem." Shortly after Homesafe started, they began assembling, testing and installing very integrated systems. Stuart and Mark determined that very few security companies were offering state of the art equipment and installations. With Stuart's technical and computer background coupled with Mark's 10 plus years of installation and quality control experience, it was a natural fit. For the record, Mark worked for Martin Marietta as a Quality Control Supervisor on such projects as The B-1 Bomber Program, The Patriot Missile Launcher (which was used in the Gulf War) and the Vertical Launching Missile System. His experience enabled the company to meet the challenges that lay ahead. Systems were designed for all types of applications including customers who had difficulty seeing or hearing, customers who kept large valuables, such as racing cars, or those concerned because they were secluded or off the main road. Each situation was taken into consideration and addressed individually Homesafe was selected to install a lighting and 2-way voice system for United States Senator Barbara Mikulski back in 1996 after she was, unfortunately, mugged outside of her home. Homesafe has installed large systems for businesses ranging from Country Clubs, encompassing over 30,000 square feet, to Fitness Centers, utilizing over 60,000 square feet. In 1995, when AT&T moved away from the residential security market, Homesafe began to look for another alliance. In 1996 they combined forces with ADT, the largest residential security provider in the World. In their first year with the ADT authorized Dealer Program, Homesafe installed over 3,000 security systems. This secured their position as one of the top two authorized ADT dealers in U.S. Homesafe received national recognition when Security Distributing Magazine (Visit SDM at SDMMAG.COM) wrote an article on the company in the August 1997 issue. Homesafe was also featured in SDM's annual security industry ranking issue in May of 1997. Mr. Forchheimer has also had several industry related articles published in Home and Design Magazine, Mid-Atlantic Builder Magazine and Chesapeake Home Magazine. In early 2003, Homesafe was selected to represent GE's fine line of products and services as a GE-Security Pro dealer. GE has very stringent guidelines and requirements for their dealers and according to a letter of acceptance from GE Security Pro, Homesafe was chosen because of its commitment to excellence in customer service, alarm system design and installation. "Homesafe is driven to take care of customers," said GE Security Pro Director Michael Benedict. "We demand a track record of excellence in system design and installation before a company can offer GE products and be part of the elite Security Pro program. Homesafe exceeds those demands." Homesafe has positioned itself as a customer oriented security and technology firm. Homesafe continues to exceed quotas, yet is still able to offer the same high level of service to each client. When asked about his company's reputation, Stuart replied, "Installing thousands of systems, wiring hundreds of homes, and working with dozens of builders, would seem a difficult task for any small company, but with the staff I've hand picked; we still service each and every one of our customers just like they were our first one! That's the secret to our success, state-of-the-art technology, excellent follow through, and most of all, a very dedicated support team that cares about its customers!
